Adult Faith Formation
All Christians are called to share their faith with others. Our parish offers a variety of programs through which adults can learn and grow in holiness. Programs such as the RCIA and Returning Catholics are community- based programs that need mentors, presenters and sponsors to assist other adults in their journey of faith. Our Scripture studies and prayer groups are also in need of facilitators and hospitality ministers.
If you would like to assist in any of these programs, contact: Sister Katherine (916)446-4673.

Rite of Christian Initiation
of Adults (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
is the means by which interested people prepare for membership
in the Catholic Church. It is a process of formation beginning
each September (usually the third week) and continuing with
weekly meetings of ninety minutes duration in the social hall
culminating in baptism, confirmation and the Eucharist at
Easter.
Parish members are invited to participate in
this process of welcoming others into the church by becoming
sponsors, presenters or team members. The classes incorporate
explanations of the faith, discussions and other experiences
all aimed at achieving both knowledge of and a relationship
with Jesus Christ and His Church. The Holy Spirit Church RCIA
Team under the leadership of our Pastor, Msgr. O’Connor,
includes both clergy and lay members. Both long time Catholics
and newly welcomed members of the community are encouraged
to participate in this ministry.
Contact Msgr. O’Connor at the Rectory
for more information, (916)443-5442.

Children’s Faith
Formation (CFF)
This program is coordinated by Lisa Batturaro
and Juanita Patterson. It relies mainly on dedicated lay volunteers to run the program.
These are classes designed for children in the Catholic faith
who are in grades K – 8 and are not attending parochial
schools. Meetings are on Fridays from 5:30 to 6:45 pm at the
Holy Spirit School.
Volunteers for this ministry are needed in a
variety of ways…teaching, acting as aides for classes
and assisting with the preparation of materials. While advance
training is not necessary, on-going training is provided for
those who are teaching in this program.
Lisa or Juanita may be contacted at (916)448-8257.

Children’s Liturgy
of the Word
Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW)
meets during the 9:30 am Mass on Sundays. This program is
run by dedicated lay volunteers and is for the school age
children in K through 6th grade that want to hear the gospel
message in more elementary ways. The children are taken out
of Mass for approximately 20 minutes to hear the word of God
and talk about how it relates to their own lives.
Volunteers for this ministry help children receive
the Word of God in a way that they can understand. Volunteers
are needed both to proclaim the Word and lead the service
as well as support in gathering the children and tending to
their needs during this time. Sufficient volunteers would
make it possible for us to extend this ministry to other Sunday
liturgies.

Sunday Preschool
Program
Holy Spirit’s Sunday preschool program
is designed for 3 to 5 year olds. Preschool meets during 9:30
Mass every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays with the exception of holidays. Children enjoy learning
about God and Catholic values through prayers, literature,
music, and art. You are never too young to become a part of
the Holy Spirit Community!
Volunteers in the Sunday preschool program remain
with the children throughout the 9:30 liturgy, assisting with
caring for the children, preparing materials and projects
and leading specific activities.

for additional information by calling (916)443-5442

Youth Ministry
Our Youth Ministry program serves the faith
needs of our teens. The group provides an
opportunity for adolescents to form community, have fun, provide
service, and learn more about their faith and prayer. The
Youth group meets on the first and third Sundays of the month
at 7:00 p.m. in the school gym.
Volunteers are needed in this ministry to assist
with events, mentoring of the youth and supervision. All volunteers
are asked to be open to sharing with young people what faith
means to you.
